On MyCollegeAdda, each college has it’s own online marketplace where students can post an advertisement to sell their books, notes, electronics or furniture and students who need them call the sellers directly and transact within their college campus, thereby saving on the commission of middleman.Students can also find flatmates (to share the house-rent) and ride sharing partners on this online platform. As this website can be accessed on any device – laptop, tablet or mobile, it is very convenient for students to logon and access the information they need. In process, students save a lot of money and increase their social network. Reallocation and sharing of existing resources makes this initiative environment friendly.

How it Works

MCA

Mycollegeadda, developed by Vedansh Agrawal, is founded on the promise of addressing needs of educated youth of India. Strength of peer-to-peer marketplace is that the buyers are also the sellers here and in theory it means N participants can enable N x (N-1) transactions, as everybody will be having something to offer to others.

In sale of used goods, the CONVENIENCE to see and feel the product at desired time and location act as the enabler. Through this platform, all transactions will happen either within comfort of college campus or a pre-decided place in vicinity of college. The other factor that plays out in sale and purchase of used products is TRUST. As the seller (lender) and buyer (borrower) live in same community, trust builds up naturally, thus transaction success rate is high.

‘Today with the eCommerce and online marketplace gaining traction in Internet world, more solutions like MyCollegeAdda are expected to come up in few years from now over internet platform which will go miles in making life simpler and in process generate value for all. Tech start-up is the space to watch out for in this growing start-up ecosystem of India’ outlined Prashul Agrawal on occasion of MyCollegeAdda launch on ‘National Technology Day’ May 11, 2015.

There are already more than 1600 colleges, across India, added on mycollegeadda. Efforts are on to take this initiative to other colleges so that more students can benefit by signing up on mycollegeadda through Facebook or Google+. College students can also donate the book to those who need them through ‘Donate a Book’ functionality provided on this website.

Geekopedia wished MyCollegeAdda best of luck for future endeavors.
