MakersKit launched in 2014 and since then they have sold over 250,000 DIY Kits and are on track to get to 1 million kits sold by the end of the year. It is their goal in the coming years to become a household name and take the place of stores like Michaels and Joanns as the go to place for creative projects and supplies. They have partnered with amazing people and brands, including TOMS and National Geographic. Their DIY kits are available in over 5,000 stores like Macy’s, Urban Outfitters, West Elm, and Williams-Sonoma.
What makes MakersKit special is that Mike and Jawn continue to give back with their Give a Kit Campaign in partnership with Pledge 1%. The purchase of a kit on their site let’s them donate an art supply kit to a public school in their home state or country.
Their revenue model includes the wholesale of kits to their partner brands. Direct to Consumer sales of awesome, high quality kits. A subscription model is also in the works. All of this is coupled with highly engaging youtube content that not only teaches you how to build these kits but also videos to provide creative inspiration thus opening another revenue stream through youtube.
