Wheredat is an Android search engine that searches the information on your phone. Easily find your apps, contacts, webpages and calendar events without leaving your home screen.WhereDat was founded in February 2015, in Mountain View by Oded Breiner and Joanna Lund . Oded being a CTO is a full-stack developer who has been creating software products for some 15 years. Joanna is the Product manager and graphic designer with front-end engineering skills.
Oded and Joanna worked together previously at another start-up. They decided to create WhereDat when they realized Android’s device search isn’t comparable to the iOS Spotlight Search. WhereDat is unique because it’s essentially the iOS Spotlight Search for Android. It places priority on your phone’s information over web information when searching.
WhereDat was built to utilize both deep links and deep search. They built it that way because it’s the fastest way to search, allowing their app to search both phone content and the content inside the apps. Wheredat is the faster and better search engine for android phone. The reason for the being faster is the keyboard on the home screen that is always open and visible on your home screen. With the keyboard always open one can easily locate apps, contacts, webpages and calendar events, all without leaving the home screen. It has a custom-built, in-memory database that they built specifically for searching android device’s content.
