Lifestyle Portal CityShor gets Angel Investors funding from GAIN
Ahmedabad based lifestyle portal CityShor has received an investment from Gujarat Angel Investors Network (GAIN). CityShor helps local discover great products, places and things to do around them which otherwise were almost impossible. CityShor is present in Ahmedabad since 2013, Pune since 2014, and just expanded to Bengaluru. As per reports, close to 15% of local youth follows CityShor. CityShor provides a platform to local business to visually showcase their products, places and services and push it to local masses based on their area of interest.
“The primary aim of generating this round of funding is to launch CityShor in Bengaluru, expand our content distribution and increase the team strength to deliver the best. Since its inception we have focused on creating a community of followers, and now when it is done, we are looking at expanding our footprint” said Pallav Parikh, Co-Founder of CityShor.
Sharing more on the funding, Pankaj Pathak, Co-Founder, CityShor said “A dream that debuted in the city of Ahmedabad is on an expansion mode. Our motto of offering news about city based happenings and events catered to the demands of the locals in the city of Ahmedabad and Pune. And now we are going to offer the same service with our portal model in Bengaluru.”.
Mr. Piyush Agrawal of GAIN says “CityShor has been a big brand in Ahmedabad with more than 600 plus clients till date. I see it as a clear-cut self-sustaining business with almost negligible competition across India. The business fits into GAIN investor’s philosophy of investing in businesses with revenue generation and with positive unit economics from the word GO.”
GAIN is a Vadodara based angel network with focus on investing in start-ups in tier II/ III cities. It is creating a platform for investors in these cities to identify, mentor and invest in start-ups.
Founded in 2013, CityShor is promoting what’s unusual, unexplored and new in the city in lifestyle segment i.e. Food, Fashion, Travel, Home Décor and other categories. The company claims to be in a comfortable position for generating more than 2 Crore revenue next year. Small to mid-size retailer address CityShor as Super hero, because it makes small size retailers feel like an established brand by helping them to get huge foot falls and revenues; and at the same time helping locals discover the premier & latest things happening around them.
The start-up is currently busy introducing a new line of products which will further enhance local discovery in lifestyle segment.
