Akosha is a messaging platform for all consumer to business interactions. On one end we have brands that use their backend system, OneDirect, to have a personalized interactions with their customers. On the other end, for consumers, their app is a platform, a single place where they can get in touch with any brand in India. It allows today’s hyper-connected consumers to get help over chat, avoid hold times and multitask. Consumers use the Akosha app for product discovery, pricing information, discounts, customer service, booking appointments, travel research and so on.While consumers gain access to a platform that allows them to get instant help from businesses over chat, resulting in quick resolution of their queries, brands are able to leverage Akosha chat backend to have a fast and personalized interaction with their customers. Akosha is driven towards raising the voice of the consumers & getting their complaints resolved. They take every consumer complaint personally and ensure that they do everything that they can to get the consumer complaints resolved.
With the growth of mobile, they aim at building a messaging platform for all interactions between consumers and businesses including discovery, buying, appointments and customer service. They hope to be doing 100,000 customer interactions per day within three months. They want to see Akosha as the single unified platform for consumers to interact with brands and get things done over chat.
They have raised Rs.100 crore in a Series B funding round led by Sequoia Capital recently. Over the last year, Akosha has grown its employee base from 180 to over 300 and recently opened a technology and product office in Bangalore. They will use this new round of financing to hire over 200 software engineers and product managers to build out the platform, and fund the fast growing new mobile app for connecting consumers and businesses.
The Akosha is founded by Ankur Singla (CEO) and is helped by Vishal Chaudhary (CTO). Ankur is the founder and CEO of Akosha. He left his cushy job as a corporate legal advisor at Linklaters LLP, London to start Akosha. He has built Akosha from scratch to a 100+ organization. He is a graduate from National Law School of India, Bangalore. He is a classic film buff, and loves reading biographies. Vishal has over 10 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web solutions, Vishal heads the Engineering wing. Before this, he co-founded topchalks.com, an e-learning company that specialized in creation and delivery of content and raised US$3 million from DFJ. He loves playing the guitar and believes in living life king-size.
Akosha monetizes by providing the premium version of its enterprise software, OneDirect, to brands. Brands are able to leverage Akosha’s software to have fast and personalized interactions with their consumers. Over 130 large brands use Akosha’s OneDirect platform to respond to consumer inquiries every week. Around 30 of these enterprises have become paying customers who subscribe to a premium version of the OneDirect Enterprise Suite.
In the coming days, they will focus on using mobile chat as an ideal way of connecting brands with their customers. They envision a future where B2C and C2B communication will be as smooth as sending a text to a friend
