messageLOUD is a patent pending messaging service that automatically reads your texts, WhatsApp messages and email out loud, allowing you to drive, work and play safely and productively. Their mission is to eliminate distracted driving with an eyes-free experience that enables you to automatically hear your messages out loud, to easily delete or dismiss messages, or call the sender back –– all without having to look at your phone. As smartphone users, they searched for an app that would deliver the messages safely when they were behind the wheel and conveniently when they were sweating in the gym or trembling in a meeting.

The startup was founded in March 2015 in NYC and went live in January 2016. They are bootstrap funded. Garin Toren is the founder and CEO of messageLOUD.Garin is high tech industry veteran, having previously served as part owner & EVP of Americas at Striata, Inc., a global leader in secure electronic document deliver, where he ran the New York regional headquarters and oversaw the company for the Americas. Garin has 20 years of entrepreneurial experience in the digital economy, having held equity & key leadership roles for high tech companies focused on Internet, e-commerce, and digital marketing. Garin culminated his studies at the Gordon Institute of Business Science with the Postgraduate Nexus program.

They designed messageLOUD to fit these best practices:

  • Listening is OK: messageLOUD automatically reads your messages out loud without you needing to do anything at all.
  • Touch is OK: Without looking at your device at all, you can dismiss (mark as read), delete, or call back the sender – completely eyes-free! (Simple-to-use, tailor-made, full-screen, patent-pending touch gestures allow you to do this safely.

  • Automatically reads your texts (sms’s), WhatApp messages and emails out loud as they arrive.
  • Reads your messages in the order that they arrived, irrespective of message type.
  • Simple sign-in with your email address (Gmail, Outlook.com/Hotmail, Yahoo, Microsoft Exchange supported.)
  • ‘Eyes-free’ gestures allow you to dismiss, delete, or call back the sender, all without ever looking at your phone.
  • Three distinct modes for when you are 1) driving; 2) exercising; or 3) working.
  • Configurable auto-responder to incoming text messages.
