5 Tech Hacks Everyone Needs

5: Knowing The Right Terms To Use When Browsing Craigslist

Craigslist is a wonderful website that helps you find so many great deals, free items, interesting work opportunities, potential housemates, and much more! However, Craigslist is also a very big platform. Based on a number of statistics and data that the company has shared with the public, there are about sixty-million people on Craigslist. That’s a lot! And because of this, especially if you live in a bigger city, there are going to be many people selling the things that you want. The problem is, there are so many options out there, it becomes very difficult for you to find the best prices on what it is that you want.

This “hack” is very simple. When you go onto Craigslist, click on the search bar and type in one of the following words – divorce, moving, new baby, health, surgery. These particular terms mean that someone probably needs to move fairly soon, and so they are trying to offload a lot of their older items for a fairly cheap price! You may not find exactly what you’re looking for, but you might! Either way, this is the simplest and fastest way to find really cheap, high-quality items on Craigslist.

4: A Better Remote For Your Fire TV

Amazon’s “Fire TV” runs on the Android OS known as “Fire OS,” which was developed by Amazon. The remote that you can purchase with it – the “Fire Remote” – is, unfortunately, fairly expensive and known for having various problems. It doesn’t work as well as it could work, but, thankfully, there are a number of very simple, effective hacks to remedy this problem!

Troypoint’s install guide elucidates the many alternatives and the ways to install them. One of the simplest is, quite simply, installing the “Fire TV Remote App” on your smartphone or tablet. Doing so gives you that same functionality and ease of use, without the clunkiness of the remote itself.

3: Knowing How To Use Google The “Right Way”

It isn’t very hard to use Google, and it isn’t that hard to use Google the “right way,” either! It all depends on what exactly you are searching for, and what you are trying to find or uncover on Google. So, if you are searching for an article that you’ve read that had a specific phrase or term, use quotes and type it in. Alternatively, use the hyphen symbol to exclude words that you don’t want to find in your search results. For searching within a specific site, use a colon symbol like this “{search term} site: cnn.com.” Those are just some of the many ways to more efficiently use Google!

2: 5G Network Technology

Let’s get this out of the way: 5G is just a term that is used to denote the fact that this is the most advanced form of wireless networking that is currently available. While it may not seem like a huge deal, it very much is. When using this technology, all delays are reduced, and information is transmitted at a significantly faster speed than any other wireless networking speed. Of course, there is the fact that, given the rise of virtual and augmented reality technologies, you can now take all of that information and all of the density that comes with it, and transmit it to your device with ease. There are no delays or hiccups or lags, and it is effortless and incredibly breezy! This is a very powerful technology, and it is a “hack” of the highest order, the kind that changes how you use a technology.

1: Use The “Nearby” Wikipedia Feature

This is a nifty little feature that Wikipedia offers! Go to Wikipedia, and give them permission to know your location. Then, you’ll be taken to a page with a list of all the different Wikipedia pages for locations and things of importance that are around you! This is a beautiful feature, and you can – and will – learn so much about the place that you live in! Perhaps, this is less of an overt “tech hack”, but it is a simple and effective way to learn so much about your city/town!
